We had a wonderful day on Tuesday thanks to Heleni, Georgia and Glenda, Gilda, Jo and
Maggie. This was the first therapy gathering of Friends of KCC and the Conway Hall ethical society (with “ethical” written large above the door) seemed just the right place for us to be. We created our own “trees of life” acknowleging the ground, our roots, our abilities and the flowers and fruits of our journeys. We ended with ideas about how to go forward. Glenda, Heleni and Georgia did us proud and ended with an emotional giving of a tree to Peter and Susan with notes from participants to celebrate the fruits we had received from KCC.
We made the decision that Mebrat, Gillian and Grace will offer the next workshop on working with refugees and trauma and that three members of the tree of life working party would join them to plan the next workshop.
.
Other top ideas for the future include:
* continuing with the name: Friends of KCC
* a bank account
* a committee and annual event
* a collective
* ongoing projects with different leads, a recursive process
* developing learning “cells” for small group learning
* a plenary event where different people share ideas as short workshops
* Nicola McCarry and Pat Gray are to edit an edition of Context in appreciation of KCC, they will inform us of discussions around dates and deadlines
* support groups for students
* a forum for consultation
* a virtual database
* further themed conferences similar to the “training in a woman’s voice” conference last
year, ie. in a black voice, gay voice etc.
* a retreat
* a study programme of day and evening events
* identifying what is “different” about KCC i.e. ethical, focus on differnce and diversity,
social constrictionism, small group teaching and learning
* planning in an emergent way
* leadership grows- who is leading for what?
* idea of a relay, where one person/group passes the baton to the next project vision
* Cherry and Kicki to create a bridge between this group and the Cambridge event
* 2011 Summershcool 26th June
- JUST DO IT!
One suggestion could be that anyone who would like to take any of these ideas forward keeps to the “relay” model by connecting up with organisers of the last event. This would enable us to create a chain of activities and ensure that we do not duplicate and that we can track how developments are going.
.
Best wishes
Karen
